Remade in Australia Limited is committed to ensuring the privacy and security of all personal information it collects. In accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (which includes the Australian Privacy Principles), this Privacy Policy outlines what personal information we collect, and how we collect, hold, use and disclose that personal information.

We may amend this policy from time to time, and the most current version will be published on this website, so please review this policy regularly.

1. What is personal information?

Personal information is any information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.

2. What personal information do we collect, and how do we collect it?

The personal information we collect will depend on the nature of your interaction with us, including whether you interact with us directly or indirectly. For example:

  • When you make an enquiry through our website, or when you contact us by telephone or by email, we may ask for your name and contact details, and, if you call us, we may also monitor or record your call for staff training and quality maintenance purposes, or to verify discussions which take place.
  • When you ask to be added to one of our mailing lists, we may ask for your name and contact details.
  • When you lodge an application or register with RIAL, we will ask you to provide personal information (such as your name, phone number, postal and street addresses, e-mail address, and, if you are applying on behalf of a business, what position you hold in that business) in order to enable us to grant you or the business a licence to use the Remade in Australia logo.
  • You may be one of our suppliers, or a contact there, in which case we will collect your name and contact details.

The personal information we may collect includes your name, your contact details (such as your phone number, email address, postal and street addresses), your requirements, your interactions with us, your feedback (including by way of survey responses) and comments.

You do not have to provide your personal information to us if you do not wish to, but if you do not provide all the information we request, we may not be able to provide the information, assistance, products or services you requested.

Where possible, we collect personal information directly from you. This may occur in a number of ways, including:

  • if you lodge an application or register with us to use the Remade in Australia logo (RIAL Logo);
  • if you communicate or interact with us (for example by telephone, email or through our website);
  • if you provide feedback to us (for example, through our website or by email);
  • if you sign up to one of our mailing lists;
  • if you visit or interact with any of our social media sites;
  • if you apply for a job with us;
  • if you provide us with products or services, or otherwise do business with us.

We also use cookies when you visit our website which collect certain information (please see the next section below for details).

3. Cookies and third party websites

Like most websites, there is certain information we automatically track when you use our website, including the URL that you came from, the browser you are using and your IP address. This data is utilised to improve our services and does not include any personally identifying information. We will not retain any such information unless you submit that information when you lodge an application or register with us, or for other transactional purposes. We also use analytics tools like Google Analytics on our website which means that your web browser automatically sends certain information to Google. This information includes our URL and your IP address. Google’s handling of your personal information will be governed by its privacy policy, and you can find out how Google uses the information it collects here.

This policy does not apply to other websites which you access by using a link from our website. The content and privacy policies of other websites are the responsibilities of their owners.

4. How we use your personal information

We use the personal information we collect for the purposes for which it is collected, to administer the RIAL Logo scheme, for our general business purposes and other related purposes, and as permitted or required by law. Our general business purposes may include:

  • to assess your requirements or credentials;
  • to communicate with you and respond to your enquiries or requests for information or assistance from us;
  • to enable the relevant service, information or assistance to be provided to you;
  • to enable us to properly administer, and improve the RIAL Logo scheme;
  • to send you newsletters, updates and other useful information;
  • for research, staff training, policy development, and planning; and
  • to send marketing materials to you;
  • exercising or protecting our rights or interests, including in relation the RIAL Logo scheme.

We may also use or disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, or as requested by a governmental or law enforcement authority, or in the good faith belief that use or disclosure is otherwise necessary or advisable. Such situations may include: to perform, maintain or enforce contracts with our licensees or suppliers; to protect our rights or interests, of those of our business partners, our licensees, or others; or when we have reason to believe that disclosing the information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing, or who may be threatening to cause, interference with or damage to the RIAL Logo scheme or our rights or interests, or those of anyone else who could be harmed by such activities.

5. Who will we disclose your personal information to?

Generally, we will obtain consent before we disclose any personal information, other than as specified in this policy, or in any agreement or arrangement that we may have with you. Such consent may be given expressly or it may be implied.

The Australian Government has entrusted RIAL with the administration of the Logo scheme, and your personal information will be disclosed to the Australian Government in accordance with our obligations in administrating the scheme.

Australian Made Campaign Limited ABN 20 086 641 527 (AMCL) has been appointed to assist RIAL to administer the RIAL Logo scheme and its business operations. Accordingly, any personal information we collect, will be disclosed to AMCL solely for these purposes.

Your personal information may also be disclosed to:

  • our independent contractors and other third parties to enable us to administer the RIAL Logo scheme and otherwise provide our products and services;
  • our third party service providers, to permit them to provide services to us such as hosting services, provision of infrastructure, payment gateways and platforms, IT services, data analysis, email delivery services, customer services and other similar services (including conducting surveys and operating competitions for us) and to measure and improve our performance (for example, Google by the use of Google Analytics);
  • our external advisers and suppliers who have been engaged to provide us with legal, administrative, financial, insurance, research, marketing, analytics or other services and products;
  • other parties as permitted or required by law or as we believe to be appropriate: (1) to enforce our agreement with you, where applicable; (2) to protect our operations and the reputation and integrity of RIAL Logo scheme; (3) to protect our rights, confidentiality, reputation or property and/or, those of others; (4) to prevent fraud or cyber-crime; (5) to permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may suffer; and (6) in connection with a merger or transfer involving all or part of the RIAL Logo operations; and
  • any other person authorised, implicitly or expressly, when the personal information is provided to or collected by us.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties for other marketing purposes.

6. Direct marketing and opting out

We work hard to provide our members, licensees and others with the best possible service at all times. From time to time, we will send you newsletters, updates and other useful information. We hope that you will find these items informative and useful. We may also send you marketing materials from time to time.

However, should you prefer not to receive any marketing communications from us in the future, you will have the ability to unsubscribe from the mail database by following the Unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email, or by contacting us directly.

7. Our commitment to data security

We take the security of your personal information seriously. We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure, and against other misuse. RIAL does not store credit card details.

When no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to destroy, delete or permanently de-identify personal information in a secure manner.

8. Access to your personal information

If you wish to know what personal information we hold about you, you can request access to this information by contacting us. We will endeavour to respond to your request within seven days. We may ask you to pay reasonable out of pocket expenses, such as photocopy costs, associated with satisfying your request. If we deny an access request as permitted or required by law, we will provide reasons for doing so.

9. Correction of your personal information

We will take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we hold about you is up to date and accurate. Please let us know promptly if any changes are required to be made to the personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the contact details below.

You may ask us at any time to correct personal information we hold about you. On request, we will take reasonable steps to correct the information so that it is accurate, complete and up to date, or will provide reasons for not doing so.

10. Making a complaint

If you wish to make a complaint about a breach of this policy or the Privacy Act 1988, you can contact us using the contact details below. You will need to provide sufficient details regarding your complaint, together with supporting evidence and information. We will investigate your complaint and determine what steps we need to take to resolve your complaint. We will contact you if we require further information from you, and will notify you in writing of the outcome of our investigation.
